Notice to Residents of the Town of Colonie

The Latham Water District will begin its yearly flushing of the water system on Monday, March 20, 2017 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 12:00 a.m. Flushing at this time will continue until Friday, March 24.

Beginning Sunday, March 26 flushing will begin at 9:00 p.m. and continue until 7:00 a.m. Sunday nights through Wednesday nights. Flushing during the night hours will continue until May 25, 2017.

Flushing may temporarily discolor the water. This is normal and poses no health risks. However, residents should wait to use washing machines and dishwashers until water is clear.

If discoloration persists, or if you have any questions, please call the Latham Water District at 783-2750.

The next Comprehensive Plan Committee meeting has been postponed to September 27 at 6:00 P.M at the Public Operations Center due to observance of Rosh Hashanah on September 20th. The meeting will be open to the public. Public comment will be taken during appropriate time periods. Adopted in 2005, the Comprehensive Plan called for a review after ten years. The Town also convened a committee in 2010 that reviewed progress and milestones achieved during the first five years under the Comprehensive Plan. The 2005 Comprehensive Plan can be viewed here.
The Public Operations Center is located at 347 Old Niskayuna Road, Latham.

Please Note: The date of the 2017 September Hazardous Waste Collection Day was incorrectly listed in the “Upcoming Events” section of the Summer/Fall issue of the Colonie Chronicle. The correct date is Wednesday, September 13, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. We regret the error.

As always, pre-registration is mandatory. Reservations may be made by calling 1-800-494-2273 no sooner than 30 days prior to the event. Proof of residency will be required at the time of disposal.

On July 20, 2017, Town of Colonie park rules were amended at the request of the Colonie Police Department and the Homeland Security Department to ban the operation of drone model aircraft at the Crossings Park since it is located within five (5) miles of the Albany County Airport and is within Albany’s Class “C” airspace. Flying of electric powered model airplanes is still permitted at the Crossings. Gas powered model aircraft are, and have been, banned in all Town parks for some time.
