Our Mission
The MIS department is responsible for managing and implementing the information systems, all network and computer resources as well as the phone systems for the Town. The town relies on computer systems to deliver efficient services for a variety of purposes such as financial accounting, purchasing and requisitions, payroll, building and permit tracking, property assessment and tax, water usage and billing.

Our Goal
To provide guidance, directions, as well as expertise in establishing cost-effective information and business solutions for various departments within the Town which enables efficient delivery of vital services to residents.

Our Department
The MIS department oversees the technology infrastructure for Town of Colonie enabling our employees to provide vital services to residents and businesses. In addition, MIS is responsible for providing the following:
  • A support team that provides day-to-day support for our end users to ensure that services are continuously operational and align with their requirements;
  • Technology recommendations and assistance with streamlining other departments work flows to increase efficiencies and improve service to the general public;
  • Policies and technology standards for Town departments.
MIS also develops and maintains a Geographical Information Systems (GIS) which allows geographical-type data to be viewed and analyzed in map formats. This data includes items such as land parcels and related assessment information, streets, school and fire districts, manholes and hydrants, wetlands, etc. This system not only facilitates many of the routine processes within the Town (i.e., planning, building, zoning, infrastructure maintenance and upgrades, etc.), but also expands the information available for public access.

MIS strives to provide all of the Town's departments and staff with the electronic tools, systems and services that continually meet the changing needs of the community, and foster innovation. Just as importantly, MIS recognizes the need and benefits of E-government initiatives, and is continually seeking to improve the delivery of services by introducing more capabilities online.
