The town board adopted resolution #193 for 2020

This local option was in response to the Governor’s Executive Order #202.22. It allows an extension to the filing dates of our assessment rolls and the date the Board of Assessment Review is to hear assessment related complaints for 2020. The new dates to be updated on the web site are extended as follows:

  • Tentative Assessment Roll filing moved from May 1st to June 1st
  • Grievance Day moved from the 4th Tuesday in May to June 23rd
  • Final Assessment Roll filing moved from July 1st to August 1st

If the town hall is not open to the public in June, this resolution allows the town to suspend in-person inspection of the tentative roll from June 1st to June 23rd to be published soley online so long as the date for hearing complaints is prominently displayed, to suspend in-person inspection of the tentative roll, and to allow the Boards of Assessment Review to hear complaints remotely by conference call or similar service, provided that complainants can present their complaints through such service and the public has the ability to view or listed to such proceeding.

WE HAVE INFORMATION ON:

We receive a copy of building permits issued by the Town of Colonie, the Village of Colonie, and the Village of Menands. Our appraisal staff reviews and evaluates each of these permits for either inventory or assessment changes. This process also requires our appraisal staff to produce a supportable and defensible estimate of value from each permit. This value then becomes the new assessment.

TAX MAP INFORMATION:

If you need property information such as location, dimensions, and other information pertaining to a parcel of land subject to property taxes, visit the Albany County GIS Interactive Mapping for a downloadable pdf copy of the tax map.
