Transportation Services

Seniors age 60 and older can access transportation from a variety of providers.

  1. Colonie Senior Service Centers, Inc.

    HOURS: Monday-Friday, 8am - 4pm.
    • Transportation for Town of Colonie residents age 60 and over.
    • Suggested voluntary contribution is $5 (each way).
    • Appointments should be scheduled 3-4 days in advance.
    • Wheelchair service is available.
    * Funded in part by the Town of Colonie.
  2. American Cancer Society Road to Recovery

    HOURS: Monday-Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm.
    • Car transportation for ambulatory persons to cancer related medical appointments. No restriction on area or distance.
    • All rides are subject to volunteer availability.
    • Caregivers are allowed to ride with the patient.
    • Rides must be scheduled at least 3 days in advance.
    • Program is FREE
    • Medical Transportation Options
    • If you have concerns about a driver because of their medical condition, any concerned individual or the person's Doctor can notify NYS Department of Motor Vehicles of a possible condition and request a driver review.   3. Albany County Medicaid Transportation by Medical Answering Services
    • Must have Medicaid.
    • Need to register to receive rides which can be done online
    • Rides need to be scheduled at least 3 days in advance

  • Driver Safety Program
    For senior drivers Driver Safety Program is an 8-hour classroom refresher that can help you learn the effects of aging on driving and ways to adjust. Classes are held from 9:00am - 3:45pm. Please contact Roger Dames, CSSC’s Driver Fitness Coordinator at (518) 459-2857, ext. 326.
  • Caring for Older Drivers
