Police Officer Recruiting Process
Please Note: the process below is provided as a general information.
Submit a completed
Civil Service Employment Application form
with $50 non-refundable application fee.
Submit official transcript from college/university.
Pass Civil Service exam and be considered for the eligibility list (you must score 70 or above in the exam).
Police department anticipates recruitment of police officers. Civil Service department notifies the coandidates on the eligible list.
Candidates must pass the Physical Fitness Test (PAT or PT).
Colonie Police department distributes orientation packets to candidates with background exam.
Colonie Police interview process begins. All candidates must pass a Physical & Psychological evaluation.
Admittance to 24-week Colonie Police Academy Program.
