Here are answers to frequently asked questions about Town of Colonie Parks and Recreation. Emergency

Park Hours
The Crossings of Colonie Park
  • Park Hours: 8:00 AM – DUSK
  • Outdoor facilities are closed from Nov. – May
  • Indoor facilities are opened all year
Colonie Mohawk River Park & Pool
  • Park Hours: 10AM – DUSK (closed Oct – May)
  • Pool and Splash Pad Hours: 10:30a.m. - 7:00p.m. (May 27, 28, 29, June 3, 4, 10, 11, and June 16 thru September 4, 2023, weather permitting)
  • Dog Park: Dog Park is opened all year
West Albany Memorial Park
  • Park Hours: 10:00 AM – DUSK (general park hours)
General Park Rules
  • Do not damage or tamper with park environment. Leave the Park facilities the way you found them.
  • Do not block park fire lanes or access roads.
  • Bands and stereo equipment are prohibited in park area.
Drones and Powered Model Air Planes

Operation of all drone model aircraft at the Crossings Park is prohibited. Gas powered model aircraft are banned in all Town parks.

Wildlife

Respect the wildlife in the Town of Colonie Parks. Never feed or approach a wild, stray or injured animal. For issues relating to wildlife in any of the Town Park, you may contact the Park rangers, the Parks and Recreation office: (518) 783-2760, or Town of Colonie animal control line: (518) 783-2711.

Dogs

The Town of Colonie is home to two dog parks. The dog parks are located at the Colonie Mohawk River Park and Pool and at the Town of Colonie Golf Course. Dogs brought into the park must be kept on leash at all times with the exception of the dog park. The dogs must be under control of their owner at all times. Please read dog park rules and regulations. To apply for a dog permit, visit Town Clerk office.

Driving

Vehicles are allowed in Town of Colonie Parks in designated areas only. Observe park speed limit of 15MPH at all times. Unlicensed motor vehicles are prohibited. Cars are to be parked in designated areas only.

Events & Facility Rentals

To hold an event or to reserve a pavilion or conference room you must apply for a permit and you must be at least 21 years of age. The Facility Use Request form can be downloaded here. The pavilion areas at all Town Parks is to be used on a permit basis only. Town of Colonie Parks and Recreation department offers several programs.

Pool & Splash Pad

In order to use the Town Pool you must be a resident of the Town of Colonie and have a green residency card. Only Town residents over the age of 18 may have nonresident guests at the Town Pool. Pool passes can be purchased at the Parks and Recreation office each season.

Tennis Court

The tennis courts at the various park in the Town are available for use on a first come basis. Tennis shoes or sneakers only.

Swimming / Skiing - Mohawk River

Swimming is prohibited in the Mohawk River, adjacent to the Colonie Mohawk River Park and Pool including the dock area. Water skiing is prohibited from the park docks.

Grilling or Barbecuing

Only charcoal fires are permitted in the park. Wood fires are not allowed in any area. Fires must be confined to park grills and barbeque pit areas at the pavilion.

Photography and Filming

You do not need a permit to photograph in the park.
