Knox Box Application

A Knox Box is a small, wall-mounted safe that holds building keys for fire departments, emergency medical services, and sometimes police to retrieve in emergency situations. To purchase a Knox Box please follow the steps below:

  • Visit the Fire Departments page on knoxbox.com website and click on "Buy"
  • In the field labeled "Local fire departmnet/agency", type Colonie Dept, then click Search button. DO NOT TYPE IN USING YOUR ADDRESS.
  • Town of Colonie Dept. of Fire Svcs, Latham, NY, will appear. Click Select button.
  • Click on Commercial Knox Boxes.
  • Choose the box you would like to purchase (most buyers will click the KnoxBox 3200, unless there are many keys to be put in it).
  • Click the "View" button and follow instructions to checkout and payment .
Important:

Once the box is purchased, install it 5-6 feet above finished grade at the main entrance door on the latch side.

Provide a key to this door to Joe Bisognano when the final CO inspection occurs to have the key locked in the box.
