I am honest, hardworking and a problem solver. I am extremely honored and proud to be elected to a position on the town board. I look forward to the challenges ahead and the opportunity to continue my service to the great residents of the Town of Colonie.

Christopher Carey was born in Troy, NY. He has been a resident of the Town of Colonie since 1973. He graduated from Colonie Central High School and received his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Hudson Valley Community College.

He started his career in public service in 1979 as a member of the Shaker Road - Loudonville Fire Department where he rose to the rank of Rescue Lieutenant. He was active for 6 years. During that time, he was also a member of the West Albany Ambulance squad as an Emergency Medical Technician.

In 1983, he began his career with the Town of Colonie Police Department as a Public Safety Dispatcher. In 1984, he became a Patrolman for the Colonie Police Department. In 1992, he was promoted to investigator in the Traffic Safety Unit. He then transferred into the Investigative Division where he worked as a Detective and Evidence Technician collecting evidence and processing crime scenes.

Chris continued his career in service as the Colonie PBA (Police Benevolent Association) secretary. He was then elected to the position of Colonie PBA President. He continued to serve the union as a delegate council to the board developing his skills as a negotiator and problem solver. He served the union for 10 years.

He retired April 2015 after a 32 year distinguished career in law enforcement with the Town of Colonie Police Department.

Chris has been married for 24 years to his wife Susan. She is employed by Siena College. He has 3 children. His daughter Jaime is a Special Education teacher with the Shenendehowa School District. His daughter Taylor is a Police Officer for the Town of Colonie and his son Christopher is currently a student at Siena College.
