A
Long History of Service.
Since its founding more than
a century ago, the Town of Colonie has a long and storied history
of residents proudly taking up arms to ensure the preservation
of this country’s liberties and freedoms. Serving in all
five branches of the military (army, navy,
air force, marines and coast guard), these courageous young
men and women braved difficult and often terrifying circumstances
while answering their nation’s call to duty during its
times of greatest need. After the conclusion of these conflicts,
many
came back to live and raise families in their beloved hometown.
Others paid the ultimate sacrifice and never returned.
