The Town
of Colonie has prepared Generic Environmental Impact Statements
(GEIS's) for three areas of the Town totalling approximately
15,100 acres. These studies analyzed the cumulative and long-term
impacts of projected growth, and set out policies and procedures
for future actions to be undertaken or approved by the Town within
the defined areas. A major
result of these studies was the requirement that the developer
of each new project contribute a proportionate share of the cost
of improvements, such as highway and water system upgrades, that
will be needed to offset the impacts of development. These "development
mitigation costs" are outlined on the worksheets below. If you have any questions regarding the GEIS's, mitigation costs, or other planning topics, please call the Planning and Economic Development Department at 518-783-2741.
