Town Library Internet Policy and Procedures
The Library's commitment to public service reaches beyond the traditional
collections and resources of a public library. In its mission to provide
opportunities for life long learning, the library is continually responsive
to the changing needs of the community.
1) Persons under
the age of 18 must have signed parental authorization in order to use
the internet. Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an
adult.
2) All internet computers are attached to a printer. The first page
printed is free with a fee of 5 cents per page after that.
3) Use of the Internet:
a) Patrons may use the Internet for a total of 2 hrs. per day.
b) Patrons may reserve Internet computers in advance in person or by
phone,
for a 1-hour session-subject to availability.
c) Patrons arriving over 15 minutes late will lose their entire reserved
time.
d) A maximum of 2 users at an internet workstation at one time.
4) The library does not provide personal e-mail accounts. Patrons may
sign up for one of the many free e-mail accounts available on the Internet.
5) Patrons may not save bookmarks or add shortcuts to the desktop of
the Internet workstation.
6) To save files, downloading to a 3 ½" formatted disk must
be used. Files may not be saved on the library computer's hard drive.
7) Filtering software is installed in the Internet computers to block
sites which do not easily conform to traditional materials outlined
in our material selection policy. Any person 18 years of age or older
with positive ID may ask a staff member to turn off this filter during
their internet session.
8) As with all formats, patrons must respect copyright laws and licensing
agreements.
9) The William K. Sanford Library does not warrant information found
on the Internet to be authoritative. As with all sources, discretion
is necessary.
10) Misuse of Internet computers by not complying with these procedures
and policies may result in loss of privileges.
