This fall the library, with assistance, in part, from an Upper Hudson Outreach grant, will be opening a new art gallery devoted to the artwork of local young adults. The gallery will be located just outside the Teen Room of the library. Library staff, local art instructors, and an energetic and devoted teen gallery committee, will curate monthly shows which will highlight the work of one or more teens.

Teens interested in joining the art committee should contact Maureen DeLaughter by phone at 458-9274, or by e-mail at delaughterm@uhls.lib.ny.us. Requirements for serving on the committee are:
* A strong interest in the arts (although you don't have to be artistic to participate)
* Ability to work well with other teens
* A willingness to devote a few hours per month to the gallery

Members will assist with setting up exhibits and will be present at monthly openings.

Teen Art Gallery Name and Logo Contest
We are looking for a creative name and logo for our Teen Art Gallery. Young adults (ages 12 college) are invited to submit suggestions for the gallery name and submit drawings for the gallery logo. Prizes will be awarded; one for the winning gallery name and one for the winning logo. Entry forms can be found in the Teen Room. Winners will be announced at the opening of the gallery in October.
