Catch the Reading
Bug!
Believe it or not, summer is just ahead! Our theme for
this year's summer reading club is Catch the Reading Bug, so get out
your butterfly net to net a good book to read this summer. I'm sure
we'll all go "Buggy" with all the fun at the library! There
is bound to be a lot of music, crafts, workshops, preschool events,
family nights, and professional performances to be announced. And of
course, we will register kids in our club to read and read some more,
so mark your calendars now for late June!
CHILDREN'S
BOOK SALE & CLEARANCE!
New books, old books, videos and tapes
we have a surplus of materials
donated by patrons & withdrawn from our own collections. We are
selling these items at made-to-move clearance prices throughout the
spring. So take a look at our Book Sale shelves you're sure to
find a bargain for children of all ages! Proceeds will go toward children's
programs. Thank you to all our patrons who have so generously donated
their gently used books!
2007-2008 Bookmark
Contest Winners
Thank you to the 89 children who entered our 9th annual Bookmark Contest!
We had a talented group of young artists, and it was fun to see such
beautiful artwork. George Dirolf, an art teacher at Bethlehem High
School, selected our winners from two age groups, 6-9 years and 10-14
years.
Winning bookmarks will be shown in our newsletters throughout the
year and on the library's website. Each month, we will have free copies
of the bookmarks available to patrons at the Youth Services Desk.
The 2007-2008 bookmarks will also be displayed year-round in Youth
Services.
The winners of the 2007-2008 Contest were presented with commemorative
editions of their bookmarks, certificates, and prizes at our Finale
at the Pruyn House on August 16.

The Creative Kids Club has created an "I Spy" Web page for
your enjoyment. On the site you will find cropped photos of Colonie
landmarks, with clues next to them giving you hints as to what and where
the landmarks are. See if you can figure them out!
