Community Contacts Directory

This online edition of the library's Community Contacts Directory is based upon the 2000 print edition of the directory. Updates have been made when information has been found to be incorrect.

The primary focus of the entries is on groups located in the Town of Colonie, though organizations throughout the Capital Region have been included. Though some entries can be found in the telephone directory, emphasis is on groups otherwise unlisted. Listings are arranged alphabetically, followed by a subject index.

This online directory will continually be updated with corrections or additions. To make any corrections or additions to current listings or for information on being included in the next edition, please contact the library's program office at 458-9274 or e-mail information to: rucinskig@colonielibrary.org

Meetings: SOS (Survivors of Suicide), a support group for those who have lost a loved one to suicide, meets on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. Please call Sue Emanuele or Tom O'Clair at 518-899-0021 for further information.
It can be so powerful to connect with other survivors. And such a relief to be able to talk openly about suicide with people who really understand. For so many survivors, a crucial part of their healing process is the support and sense of connection they feel through sharing their grief with other survivors. The most common way this sharing occurs is through survivor support groups. These groups provide a safe place where survivors can share their experiences and support each other. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research and education, and to reaching out to people with mood disorders and those affected by suicide.
