Town of Colonie Latham Water Projects

The installation of approximately 1,600 linear feet of 12” water main along Maxwell Road from Old Niskayuna Road to Ritannie Court. This water main will replace an existing 6” water main to improve the available fire flow, pressure and system reliability along this section of Maxwell Road.

In 2011, the Latham Water District intends to group three water main replacement projects together for bid by one contractor. The three areas are as follows: 600 feet of 12” water main along Watervliet Shaker Road from Lake Shore Drive to the East, 1,700 feet of 12” water main along Lake Shore Drive from Watervliet Shaker Road to the North, approximately 2,300 of 8” water main along Fonda Road and approximately 1,300 feet of 8” main along Park Avenue. All of these pipes are unlined cast iron water main and have shown an increase in water main breaks.

The Latham Water District has included a project in its capital plan to replace four failed 24” ball valves along our 30” transmission main on Onderdonk Avenue and Forts Ferry Road. The project will include replacement of the four 24” ball valves, replacement of deteriorated piping within the Mohawk View High Lift Pumping Station, as well as, provisions for temporary water to the Mohawk View Water Treatment Plant and the additional 83 residents that will be affected by the valve replacements.
