Advisory Board The Colonie Senior Network Advisory Board arose from a collaborative planning process among the Senior Resources Department, Colonie Senior Service Center, the Town’s senior clubs, and other citizen advocates for seniors. It was created by a Resolution of the Colonie Town Board on January 23, 2003. The CSN Advisory Board is a citizen committee that assists and advises the Senior Resources Department, Colonie Senior Service Center, and the senior clubs in carrying out their programs and services to the senior residents of the Town of Colonie and their families now and in the future, and provides a resource to the Colonie Town Board relating to senior matters. As part of this process, the Board also solicits and considers input from the senior community on issues of concern to them. The functions of the Advisory Board, as established in its By-Laws, include: 1) To assist in recommending, developing, and evaluating programs for the educational, social, and physical well-being of all of the Town’s senior citizens. 2) To assist in the design and implementation of a strategic plan for the Town and its senior citizens. 3) To review potential grant opportunities and applications and help establish criteria for allocation of those funds. 4) To act in an advisory capacity to the Town Board in planning and implementation of capital improvements and potential senior housing projects. 5) To improve communication and interaction with various outside organizations and groups. 6) To bring fresh ideas and insights, to act as a sounding board, to assist in information gathering and heighten community awareness.
