Provide long term residential care, room, board, housekeeping, laundry , personal care and supervision to five or more adults unrelated to the operator.
Must be ambulatory and continent to live in adult home. Adults who use a walker, wheelchair or other assistive device are considered ambulatory if they are mobile under their own power .
Private payor subsidized through Supplemental Security Income.

Nursing Homes

Provide skilled nursing services and custodial care to the chronically ill 24 hours a day.
Admission from home rather than a hospital requires an evaluation by a nursing agency called a Patient Review Instrument (PRI).
Private pay, Medicaid, and some Medicare coverage if admitted directly from hospital.
