Public Facilities and Improvements Village of Menands Clifford Road Sewer Line Project Many of the older neighborhoods in the Village of Menands have aging and deteriorated public water and sewer systems. Five years ago the Village engaged an engineering firm to develop assessment plans for village-wide water and sewer improvements. The latest costs to address all of the Village's water and sewer infrastructure improvements amount to an estimated $9.4 million (in current dollars). The Village Board is proceeding to prioritize project needs, develop a schedule and seek debt financing. The sewer lines on Clifford Road have been evaluated in a recent Engineering Condition Assessment Report and found that the south side sewer line, approximately 1,200 feet long, is in poor condition and needs replacement. It is now part of the Village's priority Central Menands neighborhood water/sewer improvement project identified by their consulting engineering firm. The Village of Menands is requesting block grant funding to cover the engineering services in connection with this project. The Village intends to competitively select an engineering firm for the engineering design work. This firm will also directly supervise the construction contractor and all aspects of the project. The estimated construction costs for the Clifford Road portion of the project totals $242,000 and the total project costs are estimated at $330,000. The Village will provide the funds necessary and required to complete the project. last updated 9/5/08 |
