Farmers' Market At The Crossings Opening Day June 6

Colonie , NY - At 9 AM, June 6, 2009, Town of Colonie Supervisor Paula Mahan and Executive Chef Noah Sheetz of the Governor's Mansion will ring the opening bell for the official start of the 2009 Farmers' Market At The Crossings season. There will be face-painting for the kids provided by the Girl Scouts and the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society will hold an adoption clinic at the new community table.

The returning vendors this year are Barber's Farm, Burger Farm, Blue Moon Dressings, Bowman Orchards, Four Brothers Cheese, George's Market, Karen's Produce, Harmony House Marketplace, Lloyd Spears Honey, Maynard Farms, Nagimor Farm, Professor Java's Coffee Sanctuary, Sherry's Kitchen, Stock's Tea Company, Sweets and Treats, The Farm At Kristy's Barn, and Worldling Pleasures Cheeses. Due to the incredible success of last year's market, the 2009 season has been extended by an additional month and the size of the market has been increased significantly with the new vendors listed below.

New to the market are:

Bird Haven Bakery: baked goods such as breads, pies, sticky buns, apple dumplings & pretzels

Clifford Bard Farm : Radishes, many kinds of garlis, okra, celery, cabbage, swiss chard, herbs, beans and squash

Duncan 's Nursery and Vegetable Farm: bedding plants, flowers and vegetables

Engleke Farm: bedding plants, flowers and vegetables

Free Bird Farm: extensive array of organic produce and a CSA pickup

Garden of Spices : free range chicken, turkey, guinea fowl, pate, and chicken sausage

Happy Hounds Treats : Homemade all natural dog treats

Meadowbrook Dairy: fresh milk, cream and half & half

The Peanut Principle : assorted homemade nut products, candy, chocolates and dried fruit

Pickle Hill Produce : produce, eggs and flowers

Rad Soap Company : homemade soaps and sprays

Sticky Fingers Apples : Homemade caramel apples, nuts, pretzels, popcorn, etc.

 

The Crossings Park is centrally located in Colonie off Albany-Shaker Road across from Emerick Lane . Parking at the Crossings has been increased specifically to accommodate customers of the Market, so residents can easily get in and out of the park to do their shopping.
