NEW EXHIBIT IN MEMORIAL TOWN HALL ART SERIES

Work of Eight Artists Featured in “Sacred Spaces”

Newtonville – Eight Capital Region artists explore the concept of “Sacred Spaces” in an exhibit now on view at Memorial Town Hall , the latest exhibit in the Town of Colonie 's Memorial Town Hall Art Series.

The new exhibit will run from September 2 to October 29, 2009.

“It is a pleasure to continue the tradition of exhibiting the work of local artists here at Town Hall in an ongoing series of art shows. I hope many will accept our invitation to come and see the latest exhibit. Its various works serve to expand our perception of the everyday world – both challenging and delighting us,” said Colonie Town Supervisor Paula A. Mahan.

Underpinning the exhibit, which features work in a variety of media, is the idea that sacred spaces can often be found in nature.

Each of the exhibiting artists is a member of ART ‘Round Town, a group of local artists who “share a common thread of interpreting and observing the natural world, connecting in a spiritual way, and wanting to share this with the community,” said participating artist Marilyn Rock.

In addition to Rock, artists Carole Fults, JuliAnn Goronkin, Marina Petro, Melanie Phillips, Kerri Posson, Enid Watsky and Jackie Watsky are exhibiting in the show.

The exhibit, which is free and open to the public, is on view from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays on the second floor of Memorial Town Hall , 534 Loudon Road , Newtonville , NY .

Visitors should enter by the main entrance, which faces Loudon Road , and sign in at the visitor's desk in the lobby just inside the door.
