UPCOMING PATHWAYS PLAN WORKSHOP SCHEDULED FOR THE TOWN OF COLONIE
Newtonville, NY-- On Monday, March 24 the Town of Colonie , through its Planning and Economic Development Department will be holding a Pathways Plan Workshop at 7:00pm at The Crossings of Colonie Park, on Albany Shaker Road . This workshop is a continuation of the well attended October 2007 workshop, and will give residents the opportunity to review the Plan's recommendations and implementation strategies, helping the Town map future bicycle and pedestrian corridors and connections, as well as share their ideas surrounding the walk-ability and bike-ability of the Town of Colonie .
The Town of Colonie maintains 33 miles of sidewalks throughout the town, 7 miles of the Mohawk Hudson Bike-Hike Trail, and many miles of multi-use trails in the Crossings of Colonie Park, The Colonie Mohawk River Park and Schuyler Flatts. The Town recognizes the importance of walking and cycling to Town residents, for its impacts on health, mobility, traffic congestion and energy conservation. The goal of the Pathways Plan is to make the Town of Colonie safer for cyclists and pedestrians by extending and improving sidewalks, bike/hike trails, bike lanes, roadway crossings and the quality of the pedestrian environment, and by ensuring that Town policies support active living.
