Civilian Police Academy

The Town of Colonie Police Department will be once again holding its Civilian Police Academy. This annual program, which is in its twelfth year, has been well received by past participants. The purpose of the academy is to educate the students as to what the police department does and expose them to the officers that actually perform the various tasks.

This is a nine-week program that is held every Tuesday starting on March 23rd and commencing on May 18th. In addition to the nine classroom sessions, there will be several other opportunities to ride with Patrol Officers, observe the criminal court and be exposed to other aspects of the police department and its activities.

The class is open to residents of the Town of Colonie or people that work within the Town. Class size is limited to 20 people and runs from 6:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. An academy schedule is available by clicking here and the application is available by
