Travis Memorial Town Hall
MIS is responsible for managing and administrating the information management systems as well as developing and supporting all network and computer resources within the Town. The Town of Colonie uses computer systems for a variety of purposes - financial accounting, purchasing and requisitions, payroll, building and permit tracking, property assessment and tax, water usage and billing, etc. All of the Town's facilities (i.e., buildings, plants, Library, Landfill, Parks, etc.) are networked together to facilitate efficient information sharing between departments and to expedite services. MIS also develops and maintains a Geographical Information Systems (GIS) which allows geographical-type data to be viewed and analyzed in map formats. This data includes items such as land parcels and related assessment information, streets, school and fire districts, manholes and hydrants, wetlands, etc. This system not only facilitates many of the routine processes within the Town (i.e., planning, building, zoning, infrastructure maintenance and upgrades, etc.), but also expands the information available for public access. MIS strives to provide all of the Town's departments and staff with the electronic tools, systems and services that continually meet the changing needs of the community, and foster innovation. Just as importantly, MIS recognizes the need and benefits of E-government initiatives, and is continually seeking to improve the delivery of services by introducing more capabilities online.
